INSTRUCTOR

Amy MacLennan - May 21, 22 & 23rd

Amy MacLennan's emphasis on perceptual painting is as much about learning to look as it is about technique. Strategies for finding interesting compositions in a landscape or still life will be an important part of the discussion, so we will investigate some approaches taken by other contemporary and historical landscape painters. How to set up your palette, paint handling, and other basic oil methods will be covered in the early session as well. We will explore the impact of color and value in demonstrations and exercises designed to open participant's eyes to possibilities in painting light and atmosphere, shadows, drama, and form.

Days two and three will find us on the lovely grounds of the Prairie Loft, painting en plein air. Find your floppiest painting hat, some paints and brushes, and prepare to experience painting in the beautiful out-of-doors!
